INTERVIEW

What you think was your biggest challenged?
Deciding what to do, what i wanted to do
And how did you decided?
I took a lot of classes, wasted a lot of money
So you explore all your options?
Yeah I did a lot exploring

why were you interested in business? how you got into that?
uhh.. I don't know. I guess marketing because I've always see those logos and there well done and I will think like about the process of arriving at that point where the logo was really good.and it came across well and when people saw it and responded so it was real curious, even commercial, real curious about how they knew what I would like you know, I could feel them talking to me... like they knew, like they were inside my head. So I got curious, then I wanted to do a four year degree in marketing but my school was too small and didn't offer that they only offer like business administration emphasis in marketing so I did that instead

So whats your number one recommendation for me?
Go to school. is like the minimum even a four year degree even now they are losing their value, a four year degree, because in America you can get grants and its almost just like the minimum you can do, and if you can go for your masters great, its expansive. but if you can make it that far then do it. cause then that's really a master degree its the only way you can indifference yourself, you know, you and other graduates.there's so many other people because I have so many other friends that have a degree but don't have jobs.

What about like a high school student that's undecided or doesn't know know what to do with their careers?
Just get involved through interns.Do internships anywhere you can, seriously like even you think, like the other day we were talking about being a dentist, even its at a dentist office just call and ask if you can shadow for a day or two. Because really you think you want to do a this things but really you don't know what its like until you envision your entire day because that one day times the rest of your working life. You have to think well am I going to be happy, like really happy, you can find the job that makes you happy and you won't be miserable every day that you have to work, you've be excited about and not dread your drive or your commute, you want to be happy whatever you take because it consumes so much of your life

Internship #13: Tuesday, January 26

This picture is kind of the process to finish my project. I've taking some pictures of Balboa Park to show the proximity of my "work" place to the park. This may not be the photo we put up in the website but it's a great way to start. I have been working very hard to take some awesome pictures.

This picture is very significant because of the project I have been inspired and has maybe given me a hint of what i would like to do in the future. For the project I had to take some photos and I have been really enjoy that, and maybe I'm not the best photographer and wouldn't get much money but it makes me happy. That's something my very wise mentor said, do what you enjoy and be happy because that's the most important thing.

Internship #9: Wednesday 1/20

A good interviewer always asks questions he or she is genuinely interested in knowing about and he or she could not find out on his/her own. Good interviewers do background research and create questions based on what this research shows about the person.

"Where did you go to college?" or "Where did you grow up?" are good background research questions, but not good interview questions.Better interview questions might be based on that background research, and sound something like this: "What it was like moving from Boston to San Diego after you graduated from Harvard?"

In this blog post, create a biographical sketch of you mentor, including all of the aspects of life that you consider important. This could include past places lived, where he/she grew up, educational experiences, previous jobs, family life, etc. Be courteous, be respectful, and be interested... you can really learn a lot!

Some important highlights of my mentor's life is her early independence, she moved out from her parent's house, started to work at such a young age. How was the moved from Texas to California? She grew up Texas and when she was freshly out of college she moved to San Diego to be close to her sister, but when her sister had to moved Bobbie decided to stay.

Internship #8—Tuesday 1/19

Choice B: What new appreciations (for who? of what?) have you gained through internship that you did not have before? How did you develop these appreciations?

San Diego's Woman's Club is a organization that hosts fundraisers to help their community, this internship has to teach me to appreciate my community more. I developed this appreciation by just being inspired to do something, to give back, and that we all need to come together to improve the quality of our life, to feel like we have change someone's life. For example. the San Diego Woman's Club are doing there Annual Rummage Sale on Saturday and they have decided that all the profits are going to the Haiti relief fund, this really makes me appreciate my community because I see how they all care about whats happening in the world not just here in the community.

Next, provide a summary of your week.
Use these questions as a jumping off point for a well-written and thoughtful summary of the week:

This week has been very helpful. My main goal was to understand how my mentor got to where she is right now, and I think I got some of that taste this week and I hope to continue this next week. Some highlights for this week was Tuesday, because I feel like that day I really felt stress and overwhelmed because I was going to give a speech, and as odd as it may sound that day has felt the most real realistic day of a typical adult workday. A challenge I've faced this past week was public speaking, on Tuesday I presented a potential idea to the board members. I overcame this by practicing a lot before by myself and writing everything down, keeping everything organize. I think I've worked alright with other people, I get a little nervous, stutter a little bit, I can really work on that during my internship though. And with my mentor I think I'm already comfortable with her, I feel like I can ask her anything whenever I have a question, and I think that's really important in this experience because how is your internship going to work if you can't really communicate with your mentor, it shouldn't work like that and wouldn't be productive.

Internship #6: Thursday 1/14

Next week, you will need to interview your mentor you are intending to one or all of the following:

1. Learn about this person's life through their stories, experiences and the decisions they made along the way.
2. Begin to understand the path(s) that can lead to personal and professional "success."
3. Establish and deepen a professional and intellectual relationship.

Hopefully, from this experience, you might begin to have better, more or different ideas about your own life beyond high school. In this blog post, write about what you would like to learn when you interview your mentor. Post the big ideas and main topics you want to discuss and why they are important to you.

Question Idea:
For my interview I'm really looking forward asking her about what let her to the marketing business, for example when and how old was she when she decided her career. Another example is like how did she knew what she wanted to do, did her her parents led her or did she do it by herself. Also I would like to ask her, because she's still pretty young, if she thinks this is what she wants to do for the rest of her life or if she has other options
.

I'm planning to have the interview next week around Wednesday or Thursday

First Day in Internship

Work Clothes

Something I was working on and my workplace

Surprising( Picnic in the park)

Today I woke up early, around 7am, had an orange for breakfast. At 8:30 I got in my sister's car and it took me about 15 minutes to get there. When I first got there I was really nervous, even thought I’ve gone many times before. First my mentor, Bobbie, and I went over our list that we had to do, Our first task was to create a calendar with the worker’s hour. She had a long way to do it, but I told her to just download a template, to make it easier. She like my idea and we did it my way. When we finish we went downstairs to the main office. My internship is site is a hall, I worked in the second floor mostly, but at some point we did work on the main office. The main office has two desk, and the top "office" is like chill room, sofa, coffee table and separate entrance. For lunch Bobbie decided to go to the park to have a little picnic, Balboa Park was just across the street, so it was perfect. I bought a salad from home and some Springles. In the next couple of days I'm expecting to do more Calendars, work on the website, organize her desk, and similar things. To succeed in my internship I'm going to have to learned to multitask and not let the little things distract me. I think what im really excited about my internship because I can really, I know its to early, but I can see me working a similar job in the future.

Question:
How has the recession effected you in your work?
Well it has really effected my hall rentals, theres less people renting the hall.
